Flurry of Activity...

Well, things are cooking now. We have had a flurry of activity the last few days with counter guys, tub and shower enclosure guys, and the gutter guys. The house is really taking shape.

The day before yesterday the gutter guys were in and out of here in less than two hours. We have gutters - no more pieces of construction dung lining the bottom of the house to keep the mud from splashing on it. Yeah!

The tub enclosure in the master bathroom is done. We had Paramatrix Stone come out to install Kerlite. It's a solid surface porcelain material that looks pretty cool. We had seen it in a guest cottage that a local real estate agent had built and really liked it. They are building the mud pan for the master shower as well. I still have to fill it with water to make sure it doesn't leak. That's a little scary since all of our wood flooring is in and it abuts a pile of it!

Yesterday, we hung four doors that go into the bedrooms and bathrooms. They look very nice - a natural hemlock shaker, two-panel. We've had them in storage at Seattle Door for two years. Worth the wait!

Today we got the outside lights installed, some of the last trim cut and stained, a trench filled in. We still have a fairly good size hole left to fill where the temporary power service was. I hope to get that done tomorrow. Shoveling this heavy hard pan is more than a chore!

Did I mention that all of the hardwood flooring is done? Well, it is. Yeah! We have the master bathroom tile to grout yet, but then all of the floors are done...

Next on the to-do-list is the trim. We have the window trim sitting in the windows, but it still needs to be nailed up. The fella that did the trim put it together like picture frames. It's very classy!

Well, I guess that's it for now. We've got a couple of weeks left before the bank says we're done. We still have 16 closet doors to build yet. I'm hoping we can get the appraisal done with only a few complete and have the entire month of February to finish. It's amazing to think that we've built a house and we'll be able to rest and relax in just another month or two. We are both looking forward to enjoying the fruit of our labor, having parties and just plain relaxing on the couch!

Hope you all have had a very Happy New Year! We are looking forward to smooth sailing from here on out...
