Quick Trip to Mt. Baker

Steven had an itch to get away and see some alpine flowers, so we went up to Mt. Baker on Saturday. It was absolutely beautiful. There weren't many flowers. The snow cover had just melted in many of the meadows and most of the flowers were just starting to bud out. We got to see some heathers, indian paint brush, perly everlasting, asters and two alpine lillies. The flowers we did see were beautiful - just not much of them as he remembered in the past.

We hiked Artist Point, Heather Meadows and up to Table Mountain. Steven went to the top, but I fell early on and didn't want a repeat performance. You'll see me in the picture below waiting for him as he made his way to the very top of the mountain.

I sat there for quite a while just enjoying the view, watching people the size of ants glacading on a nearby snow pack and getting a sunburn on my shoulders. All-in-all, we had a great day.
