A Weary Update

By weary, I mean we are tired - no, make that sick and tired - of wiring. Steven informed me yesterday that we got our permit on April 24th. Mind you, we put in the solatubes and painted the trim and built countless soffits and trimmed out the closets since then. But lets get real!!! Every time I turn around Steven has realized that we need yet another light or lighting circuit. I'm sure I'll be happy about it in retrospect. I'm sure he will be too. Right now though, it's getting old. Each weekend I think we'll be done, reality strikes. We probably won't be done this weekend. Actually, I'm sure we won't be done this weekend. We still don't know what size wire we need for the heat pump. My notes say it's a 35 amp circuit - this according to the mechanical contractor, yet there is no such thing. That will have to wait until Monday.

Yesterday, I weeded in the front yard for a couple of hours. It felt good to work the dirt. We have so many blackberries and elderberries trying to take hold. We stopped at a nursery on our way back from our lunch break and looked at plants. We restrained ourselves from buying, realizing that a "plan" is in order. Tall order! We have so much bare earth it's scary. Steven can't conceptualize the yard, so that's bad. I had a cool idea to fill up some space in the front yard. Our house sets back 130 feet from the road, so there's a lot of space to fill. I want to put an asian type arch up on the road side of the driveway, which leads you to a labrinth. I was thinking about doing it with flat stones, small pebbles and ground covers. On the burm along the road we were planning on putting in shrubs that will grow to six feet. We could put a bench on the house side of the shrubs that would face the labrinth. Steven liked the idea. One space down, several more to go.

In addition to weeding, I stapled down wires. We had several runs of the larger wire that weren't stapled down, due to the fact that we didn't have the right size staples. I plan on finishing the stapling today. We have to move several wires from one bay to the other since we are running out of room for circuits in our 40 slot panel box. We are going to put another box (100 amp) next to the 200 amp panel for all the circuits that we want on the generator. It will be easier to manage the circuits that we want on the generator that way, so I am told. What do I know? I'm just the stapler, gofer, chopsaw wheeling weeder?!?!

Well, it's off to things I know more about - housework at 6:32 a.m. So long for now!
