Framing Begins

Framing began today. I showed up at 11:30, but no Marsha and Rod. The lumber was there, but they weren't. So, I moved a chair into the sun and soaked in a few rays. Then, I went for a walk. It's therapy you know. So, I returned to a contractor free zone, so I left. I didn't get far before passing Marsha and Rod. So, I went back. They got started, without 16' mud sil. Right when they were ready to call it a day, the lumber company came with the much needed mud sil.

Tomorrow, I have to fill the space between the foundation vents and the mud sil with minimal expanding foam. It's been a long time since I used that stuff. I feel like I've had a trial by fire with the stuff on more than one occasion. I'm ready now. The last time I used the stuff, it made the door frame pooch, rendering the door unusable. I promise that this time will be different. Although, my friend Courtney will be helping me. I'm not sure what her experience has been with minimal expanding foam, but I'll be sure to educate her before she squirts.

Here are a couple pictures of today's progress...

That is sweet. I'm trying to learn how to do this all myself. Thanks for showing us the great pictures!

Good luck on your project. There is a steep learning curve. Make sure you have a competent resource for ensuring that you meet code requirements. An engineer is a helpful, however expensive, resource.
